Beginning today, I will be saying goodbye to a place that has become such an important part of my life, my creativity and my overall well-being. This place is a hiking spot tucked away in a busy suburb just a short drive from my apartment. It's called Cat Rock, and ironically enough, it's well-known as an off-leash dog park where canines are welcome to roam free and just be.
Rain or shine, Martha and I have our daily ritual of hopping in the car after my first cup of coffee in pursuit of the climb. As we hike up the giant hill that greets us, my brain empties out all the troubles and allows me to relax and plan my day. Often times, I'm inspired by ever-changing landscape, sweet smells and various wildlife that dares to reveal itself.
New trails to hike, ponds to splash in, and fields to run through are waiting for us at our home in the country. As eager as I am to start this new chapter of my life, Cat Rock will always hold a special place in my heart (and Martha's, too!)
we will miss Dolly Doe- sometimes friend, sometimes foe!
